Hi, Seventh and Eighth Graders!
Thanks for being so well-behaved and attentive on our Hunger Education Retreat Day. I hope that it was a good day for you.
I have lots of questions for you.
Did you learn anything new? If you did, do you have any plans to do anything about it?
What part of what you learned today do you think you will really remember?
What part of the day was your favorite? I think my favorite part was when you made the poster prayer stations and we took them over to church and did lectio divina with them. I loved looking down the aisle of the church during the oratio and seeing you all in prayer. I hope that our time in church today gave you a chance to talk with God about how He means for you to respond to the problems of the people of the world, especially those who are hungry.
I meant to ask you to do me a favor at the end of the day, and it might be too late for some of you, but I'll go ahead and ask it now. If you still have your poster, I would like to ask you to take it home and hang it up in your room for a week. During that week, think about what the poster has to say. If there is a Scripture quotation on your poster, maybe you could add that quotation to your daily prayer. At the end of the week, see if you have any new ideas about what the poster has to say or what we learned today.
God bless you.

i think that my favorite part was when we were separated into differant countries. I was fun to get to do that with my friends and i had a little bit of fun.
This day was a eye opener. There are so many things we could be doing to help them. I have a good idea how to get started
This trip showed me the stats of all the hungery people out there. I learned that there are a lot of people that are rich and others that are poor. The biggest part of the day that helped me learn was the right and left game. This game showed me how fortunate I am that I get to eat 3 meals a day and how lucky I am to have a home.
This was so fun and informing
I think I learned about thow many people are hungry and I was shocked I didn't think there was that mny people.
I think I will remember the music video the most because they did all that stuff instead of making a exspensive video. They helped and thats what matters.
My favorite part of the day was probably the music video and the presentation. It was sad, but yet it made me think about the people in India and Africa who have but maybe a small piece of bread. Others may not even have anything. It makes me think how fortunate I am to be able to have food, have a have a home, and to have a family. I feel like a better person since the hunger awarness retreat. It changed my life and the way I look at poor people in poverty how they have to suffer so much.
I think that I haved learned a lot about hunger after our retreat. I learned that hunger is not just a problem in foriegn countries, it also exists in the United States and even in West Virginia. Also I learned that if just some of the very wealthy people could contribute a part of thier wealth to others than it would make a great difference. I think that I will remember the powerpoint most because it taught me a lot and even thought it was hard to watch because it was so eye opening I still really liked the message it had and the mood it set.
